Atherton library, San Mateo county CA

https://maps.app.goo.gl/fn2aBqUu7XvvfecDA

Update: some people apparently have started reserving the study rooms in advance just in case they feel like going to the library ... but most of the time they don't show up. So it's like playing lotto whether or not to sit down in an empty room wondering if they will show up or not.

Sure, you can reserve it after 15 minutes but that requires 10 more minutes to go to the desk and have them do it manually, and by that time you only have 35 minutes remaining to use the room. Then you have to do it again for the 2nd hour. So what's the ANSWER for these people making " just-in-case reservations" WITHOUT ever SHOWING UP?

Only allow people to reserve a room twice a week maybe, rather than every day. I suspect the people who are doing this are making reservations for every day of the week and maybe showing up once or twice.
---
It's a nice library, especially for those of us who remember the old library; however there are minorities from other places, even other countries, who are starting to become bossy , even towards anglos who have grown up here. It's bizarre how they start out friendly and submissive, just glad to be able to use the nice library, but then over time they become possessive and entitled even to the point of thinking they are superior to the locals.

Even a minority employee who apparently only works weekends and hadn't seen me before because I usually only visit during the week tried to treat me like a newcomer and even was a little misleading about using the study rooms, which I use on a regular basis and I know about all the rules.

I had to tell her the rules and that she was wrong about what she was telling me. I guess she wasn't expecting to hear such intelligence out of the mouth of a random "white boy" (who is almost 60-yo ).

Times have changed, haven't they.

Brightview Landscaping at downtown Palo Alto Library needs to be fired πŸ˜‘πŸ‘Ž

https://maps.app.goo.gl/2W2sXp6KV72SHWdg6

What's the freaking deal with Brightview Landscaping😑⁉️πŸ‘Ž at downtown Palo Alto Library . I pulled in one morning around 10:00 a.m. and they're doing their omnipresent ubiquitous leaf blowing thing, as they always freakin do, and then the chubby girl blowing the leaves not only does she try to blow a patch of dirt, unnecessarily kicking up dust -you can't blow dirt off dirt unless you're trying to dig a hole or something. Some things you just can't blow. You need to get out a rake or something.Use your muscles if you have any.

But the main freakin problem was that she was aiming everything towards my vehicle and I'm sitting in the vehicle with Windows partially open. And she doesn't even stop despite apparently knowing that I'm in the vehicle. And all the dust and debris going all over my vehicle.

So I finally get out of my freakin car and I say what's going on ? STOP. And she tries to say in broken English " I'm blowing I'm blowing" like she's an innocent Little Red Riding Hood or something. I know you're blowing, but you need to stop if you're getting it all over my car or any other car and if my windows are open all the more so! She pretends or maybe she actually can't speak any English.

Doesn't Brightview do any training I mean it's not like this is brain surgery or rocket science to blow leaves but you have to have a LITTLE COMMON SENSE () not to blow the debris onto vehicles and cover their vehicles with debris (& care , not apathy; or Worse -getting stoned & then blowing leaves).

Furthermore they blow this stuff over to the side by the fence and then THEY DON'T EVEN THEY DON'T EVEN SWEEP it up. And they don't even pick up the paper and trash that's on the side.

They're very LAZY- all they seem willing to do is leaf blowing. I don't think this girl even had the dexterity to to bend over. It's lazy work really it really is lazy work leaf blowing & combined with apathy it's just a terrible operation.

Brightview πŸ‘ŽπŸ˜‘ needs to be fired and they need to get somebody new a new operation at the library or the city if the city is the contractor.

re Sound Lab @NBPL main library

When I arrived at a little after 10 am @nbpl hoping to use the sound lab, it was vacant & the door unlocked so i entered & tried logging in & the screen said "reserved for 5 more minutes". So I sat & waited, & 5 minutes passed & I logged in & started my recording session.

About 20 minutes later, the employee called "nice Chris" entered & trying to act nice about it, implored me to allow the person who originally reserved it to reclaim his reservation despite according to the rules, having lost his rights to it for being almost 45 minutes late.

How could I say no to "nice Chris" & be the mean guy to the underprivileged fellow who arrived late? So I acquiesced despite wanting to finish this recording project & there being no empty slots for the sound Lab for the rest of the week. Nice Chris said there are some openings on Sunday,  but I guess he forgot the library is closed on Easter. And I'm leaving again for a few months, maybe longer. But it's okay. We need to make a  sacrifice sometimes for the underprivileged.

And memo to the underprivileged person: please show up on time for your 4-hour reservation next time. You can't Keep the Sound Lab reserved & excluded to all others if you don't show up. You're lucky you had Nice Chris caring so much for you. And It would have been cool if you had said thanks to me. I could have put up a fuss & made a stand according to library rules.

Also, young man,  it's your prerogative to wear pajamas all day, but at least could you pull them up so your underwear is not showing? Please? It's disrespectful & degrades the library atmosphere.

Newport Beach Public Library

https://maps.app.goo.gl/yKdVhDigaUH45XFc8

New construction project is making parking a hassle. Used to be plenty of spots in the structure now you have to go all the way to the top almost to get a spot during the busiest time of day. Meanwhile, the library itself seems to
becoming a little more ghetto in nature.

I used the sound Lab this morning & I was told that I had to leave because somebody else already had a reservation. Even though they were late for the reservation which is the only reason I could log into the computer in the sound Lab. They were more than 10 or 15 minutes late.

But I didn't put up an argument I just said okay no problem. The guy who had the reservation came in wearing what looked like pajamas and they were halfway down his backside showing his underwear.

You don't have to come down Newport Beach to prove you are ghetto. There's plenty of libraries all around OC  and LA counties where you can fit in much more comfortably than here. I mean I just don't get why people would take the long bus ride or however they get here just to  shove it in your face and say I'm ghetto.

That seems to be their main point of coming here, just to be annoying. And I'm NOT talking about any particular skin color or race. I'm talking about attitude. Nobody cares about your skin color or race or socioeconomics as long as you're just a decent person.

Anybody can buy decent- enough clothes that will be fine to come to the library. But when you intentionally lower your pants halfway down your back side, we know you're trying to insult Us & say
"F you" to us. Why travel all this way just to say F You to us ? Are you really that angry ? Does this make you feel better?
--+
Been gone for a few months. Wandered down to computer lab around 6pm. Hoping for some new faces, rather than the same ol robots. Sat down for a few moments & in walks the bossy Asian lady who used to try to dim the lights, until I said NO 🚫. Groan. She's still coming here like she owns it. So I leave. Can't stand to be around her.
--I found a guy's wallet in the downstairs computer lab and saw the name inside, so I looked it up online and he turned out to be a UCI employee. I found an email to contact him & told him to come and get it or else I will bring it to the desk. He came within an hour to get his wallet but he Didn't Even Say Thanks or show any appreciation to me.
⬇️
Even worse he treated me like I was the Bad Guy For Contacting Him to help him get his wallet back which included money in it. I wasn't expecting a reward but a Genuine Thanks would have been nice. GO FIGURE THAT. How many people would try to contact him to help him get it back?
---
It has a lot of nice features and generally nice atmosphere . However there are a few " obsessive compulsive" personalities at the public computers that always make it a little creepy . Two people in the downstairs lab (one female, the other male) are there SO OFTEN- esp the guy, you begin to feel like you are in their bedroom or living room. I just don't like being there anymore when they are there , which is almost always πŸ‘Ž.
--
Maybe they could have a time limit on the downstairs computers to help move some of these over-users on to living a life. Or at least go upstairs for a while. Take a walk. Call your family. Make a new friend.  See your therapist. Go to the beach ⛱️. Live a life . You CAN do it πŸ‘

re Pasadena Public Library-Central Library

https://maps.app.goo.gl/QJfFqxWZGm6Tnhii9

Believe it or not, they have a very rudimentary untied-shoes sort of creepy fellow basically living inside the condemned Library who peeks out the window to make sure nobody is sitting on the lawn.

It seems like the orders are coming from above that they want to make sure nobody stays on or near the closed Library lawn for very long. If you walk by and take a break, sit down, rest, and  use their Wi-Fi which is still on as a free accessory ( "free" meaning tax-payer benefit) they will forcefully ( not physical force as far as I know, yet ) but without apology, & without normal social etiquette, and without even showing identification, make sure that you leave the PUBLIC premises , (PROBABLY ILLEGALLY because it is public property and the outside is not condemned).

They are so DEATHLY AFRAID of becoming like a downtown Los Angeles homeless haven that they have orders to make sure nobody stays on the public lawn and pay a low level security guard (maybe ex-con) to stay inside the library at all times peeking out the window to enforce this (probably illegally) , even on New Year's Day the day of the famous Rose Parade when there are thousands of tourists walking to the parade and from the parade back to their cars, as well as to the Rose bowl for the football game. It is freakin CREEPY πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ˜‘πŸ‘ŽπŸ˜‘

College Terrace Library, Palo Alto

So I stopped in at the terrace library which I hadn't been to in a while. first thing happened was somebody parked right in front of me the wrong way facing the wrong way on the street taking my spot no apology as if there's no other spots around which they are. This isn't New York City .

Then I enter the library and there's an adult person LYING ON HIS BACK reading his phone. Comfortable?

I sit down and start working on my laptop and suddenly a guy burst in with lots of bags and stuff he sits down next to me and then he pulls out two hot smelly sandwiches he just bought at some restaurant and for some reason he said to carry him all the way to the library to eat here.

So I look at the Palo Alto library website and it says NO FOOD OR DRINKS. Why won't they enforce this ? I mean I get it if you want to bring a bottle of water or juice or whatever -even maybe a little something to eat on the side quietly or outside.

But this dude was CHOWING DOWN on smelly sandwiches, chewing loudly, not quietly. Furthermore, He decided to stand up from the chair next to me and move over to sit down at the table RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME so I was in his line of vision. As well as the smell πŸ‘Ž. & He seemed to enjoy PURPOSELY annoying me.  it seems like his INTENT was to purposely annoy me.

Why won't library staff enforce the rules except against me.  Please just do your job. Enforce your own rules.

What's the obsession of San Diego libraries with having an inner- city security guard at every location, including every suburban location ⁉️ And all they do is sit by the front door literally from open to close. It would be like having a white guy from the suburbs being a security guard at every inner city library. It's just Freakin Weird. It feels like they're trying to offend us.

The employees and security (if ACTUALLY necessary) should match the population of the neighborhood library and preferably be residents of such neighborhood.

re OC Library - Seal Beach Branch

https://maps.app.goo.gl/nFyQuGveeJnv779S6

There's an annoying fellow who comes in to use the computer and has some sort of obsessive- compulsive disorder. He goes thru a 15- minute ritual of wiping not only the computer keyboard but also everything around it as well, including the chair & table etc.

Truth be told: the only way to be sure you don't get germs from touching anything is to simply wash hands with soap when finished. All the wiping down is simply drama & theatrics.

Ironically, this guy looked gross. He looked unclean & unkempt himself. I finally told him "All you need to do is wash your hands afterwards" and he kept saying "not interested" as if I was trying to sell him something over the phone and he was a VIP. Dream on buddy. You're obviously nothing special πŸ‘Ž.

And I added "You can get help for obsessive compulsive disorder, you know. There are doctors for that" (ie mental health professionals) . He replied again "Not interested ".

Poor creepy fellow. But that's what you get at public libraries. Sad 😞. Prayers πŸ™ for.

OC Library - Cypress Branch

https://maps.app.goo.gl/FwYN31WjAdLh6xZB8

I actually don't like the type of libraries where there's always an employee posted at the "front desk" for whom you have to pass visual inspection upon entering and even exiting. And sometimes it makes you feel like they are undressing you with their eyes.

This is OUR library - not this employee's personal Library. Not the staff's library. So when you say "welcome" , its like a family member saying welcome as you walk in the front door of your own house. It's actually offensive.

And when you say "Thanks for coming" as we leave, oΓ±ce again you are acting as if it's your personal library,  because you work there. And we the tax paying local citizens are the guests. That's not right. We appreciate good staff . But you are one of us, and we are one of you. We are a community. This is a public venue. Not private.

This guy concocted a rule on the spot saying "no parking after 9pm" despite no signs to corroborate. I asked him if he knows Jesus Christ as Savior and he said "I don't care about that stuff". I asked him if he knows where he will go when he dies and he responded angrily " I just where you go right now, and that's out of the parking lot". Please πŸ™pray for this dude to repent and be baptized and accept ✝️Jesus Christ as his Savior. Or at least to be honest employee and a good citizen.

This is a library in a generally conservative  area of L.A. county but increasingly lefties are creeping I'm and trying to change it (and they always target the public libraries first- usually with a few lefty people getting employed there) - and that's what's been happening.and they are trying to implement their anti-Biblical agenda πŸ‘Ž. Please pray against this spiritual warfare- and for Christians to not be led astray. πŸ™✝️

re Newport Beach Public Library (main)

I used to use the downstairs computer lab and enjoy the more comfortable chairs down, then one day dude showed up and he always sat in the same chair came every single day. And then this other lady also seemed to start showing up every day and she had her own little habits . So I started wearing a hoodie to block out the distraction of her idiosyncrasies.

Then I left for 6 months & traveled the world and upon return I come back here to do some work on the computers and what do you know: the same two characters are in the same exact spots. Like am I hallucinating?

And now these two seem to think they kind of like OWN the downstairs computer lab. IT'S A REAL DRAG. So now I have to go upstairs and try to sit on those hard wooden chairs but it's so hard with my arthritis - can't do it for very long.

Can the library do anything about these certain characters who become obsessive compulsive & sit in the same spot and then start to have an increasing sense of Entitlement ?

There's a few OC's (obsessive compulsives) )upstairs too but there's enough other people & staff to prevent them from acting like it's their "turf" ( altho a few do try)

re Peninsula Center Library, Palos Verdes

I'm CONCERNED that there's a slow but sure creep of certain types of people, including some employees, into this Library & they're dishonestly & unethically trying to take over and PUSH OUT the traditional people who have been here for so many years.

My guess is that in 10 years from now, maybe sooner, this will feel like an inner city library.

It will no longer feel like a library that you can relax & read & study & get away from all the crazy city angst. Sad. πŸ‘ŽπŸ½

Unfortunately this library has a very strong "Brown Power " atmosphere ( ie Chicano) at the expense of black & white people. Any cross-cultural issues or conflicts will be decided in favor of the Latino . They need some whites working here.

The brown people automatically assume if you are white here it's because you're down and out. I am a highly successful Christian missionary trying to reach the people of this community. It doesn't help when you have Latinos being condescending towards all others. It feels almost like "brown supremacy" πŸ‘Ž

re Palm Desert Branch Library

The new big fella - sort of Latin looking- employee may be LGBTQ - which is his choice to make (for secular life) ( as for eternal life, that's a different story)- but sometimes they actually have subtle little ways of being territorial, of saying with body language that this is "my territory" .

Ironically while the LGBTQ has clamored for being accepted and included, once they get it, some of them become exclusive to heterosexuals.

This fella for example will go around tidying up &  pushing in chairs by the computers and cut right by me seemingly trying to send a message. Even when the chairs DON'T need to be pushed in.

 Somebody please counsel him.

Re Redondo Beach library 12/17/22

They have some good new employees here seem like decent people as opposed to some of the older employees been around for so long and they're kind of like locals on their turf. So I'm thankful for the new employees who are nice and honest.

But I hope to encourage them to crack down on the little bells and whistles that all the phones make. They do become annoying after a while. & some people just don't seem to get it. That's why phones have a silence button.

One lady snapped at me because I thought her phone was making the noise. I said nicely "Ma'am could you please turn down your phone?" She said "It's not me. & then added "Mind your own efff'n business". I said  "Somebody made it my business  by NOT turning down their phone".

We have a  right to a certain amount of silence in the library- a pleasant and productive atmosphere. It was the next person to her and she KNEW it. BUT she had to take the opportunity to snap at me and become abusive. Some of these older ladies actually can be abusive the way they treat younger people.

I don't like to loosely use the b word about anybody but in this case the glove does  fit.

So then I asked the guy next to her to turn down his phone alerts, that kept going off every minute or two,  because the employees didn't or wouldn't. And he  literally  seemed to NOT know how to silence his phone. Are you kidding me? He had to  fiddle around just to figure out how to turn down his phone. I don't care how old you are anymore- if you use a phone everyday this is as simple as anything else.

Cmon people:  no matter how old you are, no matter what gender, religion, race creed, color, there's No Excuse for being rude by leaving your phone volume up in places like the library. Show some respect towards others. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

To the young dude on the computer πŸ’»at Encinitas library

To the young dude on the computer πŸ’» who I sat down next to: I DIDN'T sit next to you because I wanted to sit next to you,  but because my computer froze and they assigned me to computer #2,  so I had NO choice.

I didn't think about telling you this because I didn't think it was a big deal but then I noticed you were acting a little weird and then you moved a little bit, then you moved some more.

Maybe you thought I was gay or something (definitely not),  but there's only ONE reason I sat there:  because they assigned me. I had NO other choice.

I tell you this because I've had that experience myself as well where somebody has sat next to me even though there were plenty of other computers available and I thought it was creepy as well.  So that's the answer anyways in case you ever read this.

Re Newport Beach Library

It's gotten much better inside although a few "robot regulars" - one in particular is a bit much - this fellow literally lives at the same computer during ALL open library hours. The problem with this is it inevitably leads to a sense of entitlement or possessiveness.
**
Meanwhile outside the library in the southwest corner of the parking lot something wierd is going on behind the gelsons. I see random people walking behind there periodically & then today as I was walking to my car a dude have me a 100-yard stare   from what I call the "creepy corner". He stared at me like a deer in the headlights until he saw I was going to my car. Maybe it's the pot-smoking corner - like anybody cares dude. Go smoke your Doobie u freak - but don't get all paranoid & treat everybody else like cops. Enjoy yourself.  Get stoned & giggle all u want u freakin A-hole. Nobody gives a damn until u start treating others like mean cops.

Why do they have a security guard if they NEVER do anything about disruptive behavior?❓I was there when a dude KEPT LAUGHING LOUDLY at some video he was watching on the computer . Not a few times but repeatedly like he just saw the funniest thing in the world, again & again ... & again πŸ‘Ž. Maybe (probably) he was high

But then send him outside to laugh at a blade of grass. We're not here to babysit potheads.  It was very annoying, but NO library staff even tried to get him to quiet down.

re the angry OCD lady at Peninsula Library Palos Verdes

its usually a good atmosphere BUT -- there are just a FEW obsessive compulsive regulars who ALWAYS sit at the same computer & IF for some reason you happen to sit at "their computer" they become VISIBLY UPSET not just that they can't sit at "THEIR COMPUTER" (which is NOT theirs, but for ANY patron) but they actually become ANGRY at the person sitting at "their computer". It happened to me once-- a female regular actually started muttering negative things about me because I happened to sit at "her computer" . This was around 12 noon-- NOT opening time. She really believed everybody in the world who visits the library should KNOW that this is "her spot " ?  This was BEFORE I realized that she had OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) -- . but the library should NOT be enabling this sort of addictive repetitive behavior especially because it leads to this IRRATIONAL SENSE of ENTITLEMENT to one particular  public computer at a public library. People who enter into the "public spaces" KNOW or should know that we have to be accomodating of one another. This OCD lady is treating it like a private space-- as if she has some PERSONAL RIGHT to sit at the same computer just because she's been coming there for a while now. (honestly, i've been coming here much longer. I remember when she arrived. There's such a negative vibe emanating from her-- which is another strange thing=- people come "up" here to get away from the angry city vibe. But she brings it with her. If she like the angry city vibe, why come to PV library? There's plenty of city libraries to choose from- that have security guards and lots of rules & limits on computer time etc). That would seem to be more to  her  liking. But it's as if she LIKES to make  an angry statement by coming here. Some damn chip on her shoulder. The second she comes in now-- I LEAVE as quick as possible. It feels like an evil presence. Sad. I used to love coming here.

Correction: 6/28/22 Re southwest corner of Newport Beach central library parking lot

Correction
6/28/22 Re southwest corner of
Newport Beach central library parking lot:

I go to the library regularly, & periodically I see people walking to the southwest corner of the lot behind the Gelsons . Not sure what is back there.  a shortcut ? cigarette break? Or a place to smoke pot ? Or something more serious ?

Then I was walking to my car today & a guy from that corner gave me a "100-yard stare" as i walked that direction, only to stop short when i got to my car. He seemed highly concerned that i might approach him like he thought i was somebody with authority.

Whatever's happening back there it's starting to get creepy & they're starting to get paranoid. Maybe its time for a few cops to take a walk thru there  periodically & see if it's something that needs to be addressed. I DON'T want to play cop.

I prefer to remain anonymous.

Thanks. πŸ‘

Re Newport Beach Central Library update (June 2022)

It's gotten much better inside although a few "robot regulars" - one in particular is a bit much - this fellow literally lives at the same computer during ALL open library hours. The problem with this is it inevitably leads to a sense of entitlement or possessiveness.
**
Meanwhile outside the library in the southwest corner of the parking lot something wierd is going on behind the gelsons. I see random people walking behind there periodically & then today as I was walking to my car a dude gave me a 100-yard stare  from what I call the "creepy corner"

Nobody gives a damn until u start treating others like mean cops πŸ‘ŽπŸ˜‘

Re members of a certain religion in BH

FYI : i know there are some persons here of a particular religion that study Hebrew etc. Some of them have a low opinion of us who are NOT of the same religion & assume we are generally uneducated & unclean.

I just want to inform you that I personally HAVE studied not only Hebrew but also Greek & Aramaic at a higher level of education. As well as Latin & Spanish. And although I am NOT kosher, I do maintain top health, diet, & exercise protocols. I wash my hands frequently. And I am heterosexual, but celibate & consecrated to the Lord.

I believe in GOD too: The Father, Son, & Holy Spirit, also known as The Trinity, or Triune God. Google it. I've been coming to BH library since 1984. And I support people of your religion against persecution. I denounce the historical atrocities committed against people of your religion. DON'T become what became of you, historically speaking. . Check your negative prejudices at the door. Or at least keep them to yourselves.

Re Beverly Hills Library

There's a creepy little kid (young adult) who roams around the library with a laptop bragging that he's a " computer programmer " as if anybody cares. On top of that he calls people "faggots" . And if you complain, the staff treat it as an argument between 2 patrons.
But it's a one-sided un-instigated attack by the creep with the laptop.

Plus he tries to sit at the library computers with his laptop when there's tables everywhere for laptop users. He got kicked out one time after lying that he had "special permission".  I hope staff permanently bans him sooner before later.

Review re Beverly Hills Library

So I've been coming here for years since 1984 when our family moved to Southern Cal and then more regularly later when I started using the computers for a while and then covid shut things down & I was traveling most of the time but returned one Sunday & decided to drop in and use a computer for my ongoing project.

AND as I sat down in the upstairs area at a computer a little while later a young man comes in and sits nearby at another computer but pulls out a laptop- seems to be using his laptop at the computer station . Then pulls out some kind of bottle and starts shaking it with some liquid in it and starts taking his medication or whatever.

SO I turn and look over that way and stare at him trying to figure out what's going on with this  young dude ? I'm thinking maybe I should go tell the lady behind the desk about it. He shouldn't actually be there if he's not using the computer & he shouldn't be eating or drinking at the computer .

He seemed to be "setting up shop" &  was annoying and distracting. But I decided to let it go if he would quiet down and do whatever he's doing and he did for a little while. But then another patron arrived and told the lady behind the desk that this young dude shouldn't be there and he wanted to use that computer.

SO they walked over to the young dude and told him he had to leave he had to move. The young dude first tried to say he has  "special permission" to be here. And he didn't - he was just lying. And then he tried to mistreat the lady saying "Are you new here?" and she isn't but she is a little bit foreign.

I think this young dude was of a special religion that's  prevalent in Beverly hills. Not to denigrate the religion but some who practice this religion are NOT actually sincere and they're sometimes quite self-centered.

Others who practice this religion are more sincere and honest. So the young dude reluctantly gets up & starts to leave and as he passes me by he whispers in my ear a term of HATE. It was very creepy & strange & annoying & disturbing. And not true to who I am either. I live a highly moral life. So I reported the incident to a staff member and we confronted  the young dude who was now downstairs. And his initial  response was not to apologize or even any remorse but to say "who is this guy? "  as if he was the center of the world.  I've been coming to this library probably since before he was born. And now I'm the victim of his hateful ignorance . I am STILL trying to get it OUT of my head several months later - it was so creepy & hateful & misplaced. SICKENING creep. πŸ‘Ž

Malaga Cove library review

In general very decent. they leave you alone . however sometimes if there's an event & parking gets full in the lot & on the road one time I had to park down the street in front of a neighbor's house & he didn't like my older model  car & called the police & falsely reported that it was parked overnight.

So the police came & put a tow warning on my car. subsequently I called the police department & told them that I had only been there a few hours and this is a very good PD & very respectful & they don't  judge you by  your socio economic status and they said "Sorry about that" .

They took this resident at his word &  they trusted this neighbor & got burned. They won't trust him next time.  I felt like I should go and confront the guy but it would just escalate & since he is clearly a "person of the lie" he would probably NOT be honorable & apologize & might even falsely accuse  me of something.

This kind of person is one to AVOID at all cost.  So I just know to avoid parking by that guy's house πŸ‘Ž. But the library has nothing to do with the neighbor being an A-hole.

Review of Newport Beach Library (April 2022)

It's been quite a journey since I first arrived at Newport Beach Library as well as going to a few of the other branches.  AND it's been pretty good they have a nice facility especially the Main Library.  I remember I arrived right before they did the remodeling and open up the back.  Then later they added the computer lab downstairs and made a few changes for the computers upstairs.  in general pretty good atmosphere. I wish the carrels in the upstairs area were a little higher so you didn't have to see other people's faces . I had a few interactions with some staff members that weren't so great when I first arrived . I was still new to Newport Beach and loving the beaches and parks and things and some of them were kind of jaded to how nice Newport Beach is unfortunately. But other staff members were commendable and nice.

And then there's the various patrons : The Good the Bad and the Ugly as they say. And then there was the covid shutdown or slowdown.  Newport Beach stayed open more than most other places which is commendable πŸ‘.  I salute u 4 sticking it out without getting paranoid. Lately I've been using the computers again after  returning from  several months traveling.

And now there's a new employee -I think he's an employee of yours- a little different - I mean he looks like  a male but he wears a skirt and now I guess we're not allowed to say if somebody's a male or female unless they tell us they are but how do you describe a person  otherwise?  He came  around  near the end of the day in the computer lab. But a few days later he was just sitting on a computer using it like a patron and laughing loudly kind of disruptive. Seemed  out of character for an employee so I begin to wonder if he actually is an employee or not. I hope he's not trying to establish the downstairs computer lab as his territory.  You can really feel his/her presence when he/she is there and it's NOT a good vibe

And then some of the faces I remember I haven't seen around in a while so I don't know - maybe they're at the other branches or whatever but then there's a few faces I still remember who've gotten better in some regards . A few  of them originally seemed a bit overbearing - kind of territorial - but now  seem to have gotten a little better.

I use the computers at the library for specific legal, moral, and ethical purposes, and not just fooling around.  Even though if I was just fooling around (ie entertainment)  that would acceptable as well in terms of our value-free culture but I tell you just to inform anybody who's interested that I'm not  playing around on computers. I have a Christian Ministry that I take very seriously and that's what I spend most of the time using the computers for.

And I am on sabbatical from my Christian Ministry work I divide my  time between Newport Beach & Palos Verdes. I can't complain (except about gas prices, April 2022.)

I am conservative and disagree with almost everything about Democrat Lefty politics including the California governor πŸ‘Ž and the current person in the White House πŸ‘Ž

Review of Palos Verdes Library (peninsula)

It has been quite a journey since I first arrived at Palos Verdes Library many years ago. I remember when I first came in I was impressed with the spacious setting & ability to use the computers without interruption and  do some work upstairs on my laptop ( which later got stolen after getting broken into by Dodger Stadium and I decided I would never buy another laptop).

And it's still pretty good but over the years there have been newcomers; The Good the Bad and the Ugly as they say.  I mean some will come with an attitude.  Some seem like they just got out of prison. And there's some nice ones as well.  Some of those here have an attitude & just keep coming back day after day -there they are again.

One guy with a ponytail is on the computer every day in the same spot. I remember when he first arrived. I call him "the machine." I think he must have some kind of obsessive compulsive issues.

And then there's a lady who always wears the hoodie and seems angry. I just call her the " hoodie lady" or under my breath some other words. Such an angry vibe from her it really spoils the atmosphere 😞.

And then just recently somebody came and I was sitting at a computer and she kept staring at me. She stood behind me and stared at me until I turned around and glared at her wondering what the heck she wanted. And then there's also another girl maybe of a certain religion - highly supercilious- I try to avoid getting on her bad side cuz she has a  sneer that'll kill. As they say "If looks could kill". Not a surprise that she's not employed anywhere the way she treats other people.

And then there's those who came for a while and then they disappeared - haven't seen them for many months or years now.

And then we had the covid interruption -I spent most of the time traveling during this covid Interruption.  Now I've come back and am seeing who is who and what is what. I still use the computers periodically for very moral, ethical, & legal  tasks & purposes pertaining to my Christian Ministry which of course I don't talk much about because people  around Southern California are very closed off & definitely NOT open to engaging in conversation about being saved by Jesus Christ.

Therefore most of the time I (& we) do my evangelism outside of California where people are more open to talking about being saved by Jesus Christ. But I have roots here so I periodically return and do a little R & R and update things and spend time in Palos Verdes and Newport Beach etc.

And i  hike  the trails a mile up the hill which has changed  as well with all the mickey mouse parking issues and now the rangers who roam around in their white trucks - a little too bossy. I mean I've been hiking here for years and they come along and think that they're in charge of everybody - and they never hike by the way - they just sit in their  trucks & drive around like they're the boss.  So now I have to drive an extra mile to go to a different trail just to avoid them and the bad bossy vibe they emit.

This black female is a  very depressing person _-always wears hoodie -sits at same place every day at this  library.  She has such an angry negative vibe even tho the white management doesn't enforce any rules against her. She's special. & thinks she owns her area. If u sit at a nearby computer she becomes rude & gross . white management afraid to do anything πŸ‘Ž
